PAUSE for Unpaid Carers
Terms of Use
Last updated: May 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to your use of the PAUSE for Unpaid Carers app (“the App”), operated by Work Care and Thrive Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”).
By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
PAUSE for Unpaid Carers is a self-care and wellbeing app. It is not a medical service, mental health treatment, or crisis support tool. If you are in crisis or need urgent help, please contact a medical professional or call 999.
1. About the App
PAUSE for Unpaid Carers is a daily wellbeing app designed to support people who provide unpaid care. It offers guided self-care activities, journalling tools, and a community space built around the PAUSE framework.
The App is intended to complement — not replace — professional medical, psychological, or social care support.
2. Eligibility
The App is intended for adults aged 16 and over. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 16, please do not use the App.
3. Your Account
To use the App, you will need to create an account using your email address. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login details secure and confidential
- All activity that takes place under your account
- Notifying us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission
We reserve the right to suspend or close accounts that are used in breach of these Terms.
4. Acceptable Use
When using the App — including any community features — you agree not to:
- Post content that is harmful, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or offensive
- Impersonate another person or organisation
- Share another user’s personal information without their consent
- Use the App for any commercial purpose without our written agreement
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or interfere with any part of the App
We want the App to be a safe, calm, and supportive space for everyone who uses it. We reserve the right to remove content or suspend access where these standards are not met.
5. Not a Medical or Crisis Service
The content and activities within the App are for general wellbeing support only. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, or manage any medical or mental health condition.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, thoughts of self-harm, or a medical emergency, please seek immediate help:
- Emergency services: 999
- Samaritans: 116 123 (free, 24/7)
- NHS urgent mental health support: 111 (option 2)
We include signposting to crisis support within the App and encourage you to reach out if you need it.
6. Your Content
Content you create within the App — such as journal entries and activity responses — belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of anything you write.
Your journal entries are private and will never be read by Work Care and Thrive Ltd or our partners, except where required by law. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details of how your data is handled.
7. Our Intellectual Property
The PAUSE framework, app design, content, branding, and all materials within the App are owned by Work Care and Thrive Ltd and are protected by intellectual property law.
You may use the App for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, distribute, or adapt our content without our written permission.
8. App Availability
We aim to keep the App available at all times, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The App may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the App at any time. Where possible, we will give you reasonable notice of significant changes.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Work Care and Thrive Ltd is not liable for:
- Any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App
- Any reliance placed on content or activities within the App
- Any interruption, error, or security breach outside of our reasonable control
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will notify you within the App and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this document.
Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Ending Your Use of the App
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. Instructions for doing so are available in the App settings.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, or if we decide to discontinue the App. Where possible, we will give you reasonable notice.
